Year-Round Volunteer Opportunities
NAYDO Council
The governing body for the North American YMCA Development Organization is composed of NAYDO Council Members who serve 3 year terms and can be re-nominated for a second 3 year term. Council members must be NAYDO Association Members, have demonstrated competence in their field, work at YMCAs that model financial development best practices, and have a record of NAYDO involvement. A Nominating Committee recommends to the NAYDO Council the names of new Council Members when openings occur. For more information contact Nominating Chair Bryan Webber at bryan_webber@ymca.ca or NAYDO Conference/Member Services Coordinator Mary Zoller at info@naydo.org.
Developments
The NAYDO newsletter Developments provides a volunteer opportunity for those who enjoy documenting in writing issues related to philanthropy. For a schedule of due dates or more information contact Developments Editor Shelly McTighe-Rippengale at smcrip@ymca.org.
Webinars
Just as presenters are recruited for the conference, webinar presenters are needed as well but so are topic suggestions. If you have a topic to suggest or would like to volunteer to present a webinar, contact info@naydo.org. Webinar Chair Paul Andresen will follow up with you.
Social Media
Throughout the year, we encourage NAYDO members to share their ideas on topics related to philanthropy and leadership via Facebook and Twitter. Want to get involved?
- Become a fan of NAYDO on Facebook. This is a great way to connect with other NAYDO members and share questions and suggestions year round.
- Follow NAYDO on Twitter for ideas and to help spread the good word about YMCA philanthropy!
Membership Recruitment
When you believe NAYDO has made a difference in philanthropy at your Y, help us spread the word by telling other YMCA’s about NAYDO membership benefits. If you would like contact information on Ys not currently involved the NAYDO Office would be happy to supply that information.
Association Member Contact
If you YMCA is an Association Member, one person on your staff has volunteered to serve as the Association Member Contact. This person is responsibility for processing the annual dues, keeping your Y’s membership roster current, monitoring NAYDO deadlines and informing your Y’s delegation about NAYDO information. Know who your Association Member Contact is and offer to assist him or her.
Suggestions/Feedback for NAYDO
One of the easiest ways to volunteer in NAYDO is to simply share an idea you have with a NAYDO Council Member or through the NAYDO Office. More importantly when member or conference surveys are sent out, respond to them. Volunteering your opinion and ideas is a great way to start getting more involved.
